Resources for Adventurous Journey Supervisors
Supervising a journey
About the Adventurous Journey—for supervisors, here's an overview of what you need to do to supervise a journey.
In Queensland, Adventurous Journeys operate under an Adventurous Journey Supervision policy to ensure the safety of young people and volunteers while not affecting their sense of adventure or independence. It is a requirement that Adventurous Journeys are conducted in-line with this policy.
If an incident or accident occurs on any Duke of Ed approved activity, including Adventurous Journeys, an incident report form must be completed and emailed to the Queensland Award Operating Authority at qld.award.office@qed.qld.gov.au.
Mandatory forms
Before you start supervising an Adventurous Journey, you must complete the following:
- complete an AC4 Adventurous Journey notification or (RTF, 166KB)—this form must be submitted to your Award Centre for approval no less than 2 weeks prior to the Adventurous Journey activity. A completed copy must be sent to the Queensland Award Operating Authority at least 1 week before the Adventurous Journey activity.
- ensure a P4 Adventurous Journey consent form or (RTF, 71KB) is completed for every participant—retain the completed forms at your Award Centre.
- learn about the Adventurous Journey requirements for participants.
